The Parish Council is a consultative body responsible to the pastor, who in turn is the administrator of the parish and is responsible to the bishop. The Parish Council is representative of the entire parish, recognizing and reflecting the parish’s rich diversity. The Parish Council will collaborate with parish committees and ministries that address specific areas of parish life such as worship, spirituality, evangelization, religious education, finance, and service. The Parish Council works in a consultative role with the pastor to develop a pastoral plan and to assist the pastor in assessing the spiritual and temporal need of the parish. The pastor may frequently consult the council with temporal matters affecting the parish and its day-to-day operation, however it is not the primary role of the Parish Council. The Parish Council consists of nine members each serving 3-year terms, and consists of a president, vice-president, and secretary. Every year three new council members are nominated and elected and all active parishioners are encouraged to participate.
